Girls on the Run

Girl on the run

GOTR is a 10 week program available for girls 3rd-5th grades. The team of 15 girls meets with coaches twice a week. This program has become so popular at Webster that we now have two teams: a Monday/Wednesday team and a Tuesday/Thursday team. The program is held after school at Webster and a light snack is provided free of cost. Girls need to be dressed appropriately: sneakers, athletic clothes, and bring a water bottle.

The goal of this program is to help girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Each meeting covers different topics such as: the importance of physical and emotional health, responsibility for our actions, embracing differences and connecting with others, and how to effectively stand up for themselves and for others. Additionally, each meeting includes physical activities to increase each girls physical strength and endurance. At the end of the 10 week program, the girls and their coaches participate in a 5k. Each girl moves at her own pace and the event is not timed- it is not a race.

Participating girls are not allowed to miss more than three meetings. Families are responsible for transportation home for their child. Punctuality is expected. There is a fee for this program, but scholarships are available.

Information is sent home every spring, so keep your eyes out!
